Back It Up...
Yay!! A day off! A good cup of coffee, a beautiful fall day. Listening to Bon Iver and about to clean up the studio which has turned into a clothes pile. Lots to do before my trip to Ireland. I made these earring last week, no backs tho. I got about 3 pairs with no backs, maybe i will spend the day making earring backs. It's not the most fun ever but it needs to get done. Kind of like a day dedicated to jump rings.

I'm so glad to have pretty friend models. So far, all the earrings I have made for people I made just for them, thinking about their skin tones, style, hair. I think of a color or shade, then very organically, it all comes together. Much how cooks do their thing, i do mine.

for the anarchist crafter
How to get felt up.
So with felting.. basically you have a pile of wool, sheep, goat, rabbit:-) alpaca, monkey...what have you.. you add warm water and soap and then begin to manipulate it by tapping or hitting(pounding if you've had that kind of day) slowly the wool binds to itself and you have felt.. there are many gadgets.. wooden spoons, felting needles what ever. I was mainly interested in 3d shapes. nests, squares, balls. flowers...
Felt Magic
This summer (2010) I took a three day felt workshop. I was a little skeptical at first..what am i doing here? why do i sign up for this shit? Then... in the first half hour ...I got it... awesome... now i love felting on quiet mornings.. the felt has already turned into rings and pins. working on a necklace...
